There is no bar on DU law alumni to take admission as advocates: BCI

Trainee lawyers who came from Delhi University’s law faculty in 2013-14 can breathe easy. In spite of the derecognition of their course, the bar Council of India recommended that students should be enrolled as lawyers. The Commissioner Recently assured that the students will not suffer as he has already visited three centers of the law faculty and has taken a decision. In the meantime, DU notified a bench of chief judge g Rohini and justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw that the centres were issued show cause notices on some gaps found by BCI inspection team. The team of seven members of BCI visited three centers when varsity applied for inspection for continual affiliation to the apex lawyers’ body. DU gave the answer when considering the PIL filed by by Vijay Kumar Chaurasia and two others who were seeking for the cancellation of the notice of prohibition for fresh law graduates DU from being registered as lawyers A BCI letter which was issued on 23 September 2014, bar Council of Delhi (BCD) other state bar councils and the DU Vice-Chancellor, took decision that in the absence of extension of approval of affiliation of legal centers, the students admitted in the session 2011-12 and emerged from the 2013-14 academic year are not eligible for enrollment.
